David A. Pyles, PhD founded Pyles & Associates in 2012 as an agency dedicated to providing effective treatment for people with intellectual disabilities and those who have dual diagnoses (mental illness and intellectual disabilities).  We specialize in developing treatment plans for people with severe behavior disorders, providing staff training and management systems, and in using a behavioral systems approach to ensure ongoing staff competence in delivering services.


David-Pyles David A. Pyles, PhD

David A. Pyles, PhD is a doctoral level Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D) and a licensed psychologist practicing in Los Angeles, California.  He received his PhD in Psychology from the Florida State University in 1992.  He took a position as Senior Behavior Analyst at Howe Developmental Center, playing a critical role in its resolving a U S Department of Justice Consent Decree in the two years minimum duration possible.  He then was promoted to Senior Behavior Analyst of the Illinois Division of Developmental Disabilities.  In that role, Dr. Pyles developed and oversaw systems related to behavior intervention, including: peer reviews, functional assessment of behavior, developing behavior support plans, and conducting Behavior Intervention Committee reviews.  He also coordinated the Psychology Task Force, which developed standards of practice, provided expert consultation for people with severe behavior disorders, and developed training materials and systems to teach MA-level practitioners to develop treatment plans consistent with the standards of practice in the field.
Dr. Pyles was instrumental in creating and building the MA and PhD programs at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.  He served as Interim Chair  at the Los Angeles campus for eighteen months.  He is now Associate Professor of Behavior Analysis, where his teaching and research interests include functional assessment/functional analysis, organizational behavior management sports applications, stimulus equivalence, staff training, and parent training.

He is President of Pyles & Associates, a consulting company that provides services to adults with developmental disabilities and organizations seeking to improve employee performance.  He is also President of Panda Learning Services, an agency that provides ABA services to children with autism and their parents.

jose_juan Jose Juan Bustamante, MA

Jose Juan Bustamante has dedicated over 9 years to human services.  Jose Juan has worked with a wide range of patients, including children, adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities across homes, schools, group homes, and day/work programs.   Jose Juan’s primary goal is to lead his patients to live a more independent life. Jose Juan has served in various leadership positions, including staff training, supervision, consultation, research, organizational behavior management, adjunct professor and caregiver training.  Currently, Jose Juan is pursuing a doctoral degree in Applied Behavior Analysis at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. His areas of interest include Behavior System Analysis, Organization Behavior Management, training and teaching.

adrienne_m Adrienne Mubarek, MA

Adrienne Mubarek, MA, BCBA is a clinician for Pyles and Associates and has been working in the field of behavior services for 15 years, specifically with individuals with developmental disabilities. She received her Master’s in Psychology with Applied Behavior Analysis Specialization and is a PhD candidate in Psychology with a Behavior Analysis focus. She has specialized in assessment and treatment of severe problem behavior, language training for non-verbal individuals, coordinating behavior management programs across services, and staff training for behavior programs. She enjoys getting to know all aspects of the individuals’ needs to develop comprehensive programs that are effective.

Vincent_van Vincent Van Antwerp, MA

Vincent Van Antwerp MA, BCBAreceived his BA from San Jose State University in Psychology and Behavioral Sciences.  He received his MA from Pepperdine University in Psychology, and is currently pursuing his PhD in Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

Vincent has been working with children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities since 2005.  He became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2009, and is also a Certified Trainer in Professional Crisis Management (PCM).

Vincent specializes in the assessment of problem behavior, treatment plan development, and staff training.  His research interests include OBM, sustainability/green behavior, feedback and goal setting, and heath and fitness promotion.

lusineh Lusineh Gharapetian, PhD

Dr. Gharapetian obtained her Bachelors’ degree in Cognitive Science with a double specialization in Neuroscience and the Clinical Aspects of Cognition from the University of California, San Diego. Prior to entering the field of ABA, she served as a research associate in a neuroimaging laboratory conducting various neuropsychological assessments aimed at evaluating cognitive functioning of typically developing individuals as well as those with neuropathology. Lusineh went on to earn her PhD in Psychology with a specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (TCSPP). She has previously served as an adjunct professor at TCSPP and currently teaches at California State University, Los Angeles. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Lusineh has worked to improve the quality of life of children and adults with autism, developmental delays, and intellectual disabilities as well as their families for over six years. As a clinician, Lusineh has expertise with intensive behavioral intervention, functional behavior assessment, and the development of behavior support plans and skill acquisition protocols.

As a consultant, she has worked to improve the quality of services on an organizational level and collaborates to develop systems to improve staff competence and performance.

anne_w Anne Winkles, MA

Anne Winkles – Director of Human Resources

Anne holds a Masters in Industrial Organizational Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with a background in sales and consulting.  Anne’s main focus at Pyles & Associates includes performance, implementation, evaluation, systems (P.I.E) and Quality Assurance protocol for group homes.

As a member of the Ebell of Los Angeles, Anne also functions as Ambassador of New Directions Charity, which provides shelter and career guidance to returning women veterans.

shai_m Shai Maor, BA

Shai Maor, BA received his BA in Sociology with Criminology from Cal Poly Pomona. During his undergraduate career, he was a founding father and Risk Manager of the Iota Iota Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He is currently working on his Masters of Science (MS) in Applied Behavior Analysis at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He has been working with adults with developmental disabilities since 2014, and with children since 2015. Shai specializes in societal effects and roles as they correlate to relationships amongst people, assessment of problem behavior, and defining behaviors functionally. His research interests include time management, OBM, feedback and goal setting, and functional relationship management.
